Spring has sprung, and the flower full moon is upon us occurring May 12, 2025. This is the fifth full moon of the year. Native Americans named this spring’s full moon for the spring flowers in bloom. This full moon is in fierce and magnetic Scorpio tonight. The moon yields feminine energy, while the sun is masculine. Regardless of the moon phase, I find it extremely grounding to look up at the moon on any night.
Given the moon’s influence on ocean tides, it’s naive to believe it doesn’t affect humans. Consider: Water comprises sixty percent of our bodies on average. A full moon is a great time to release what is no longer serving you. A spring cleaning of your psyche, if you will.
These are some of the full moon rituals I find helpful as a girlie who just doesn’t know when to let go of anything that isn’t good for me.
First, I fill up a cup of water and place it on a windowsill overnight. I ask the moon to charge the water with her energy to provide me with the cleanse I need. In the morning, I drink the water and thank the moon for the energy she has provided to me. It’s easy and won’t take long.
Another full moon ritual I find helpful is more in depth. I start with burning sage to cleanse and release any negativity within my space. I ask the moon to help me release any negativity I have been holding on to recently, as well. I have a sound healing bowl that brings me to the present moment. This allows me to look within myself for this ritual.
After I meditate, I sit outside under the full moon and write in a notebook everything I’d like to release that is limiting me. Whether it be a relationship that is no longer serving me, self-doubt, fear, anxiety, etc. Once my list is complete, I rip everything I wrote into separate pieces of paper and burn them, asking the moon to help me release the things that are no longer serving me to bring me closer to the light that I seek.
After I burn the last piece of paper, I like to sit with the moon and take everything in.
This won’t eliminate everything I dislike about my life. It offers self-reflection on personal happiness, leveraging lunar energy. I have found these full moon rituals to be extremely grounding while allowing me to set intentions for the length of the moon cycle.
New moon updates are coming soon.
